In Omsk, the accused in the explosions at BAM was arrested

In Omsk, a court arrested a person accused of committing a terrorist attack on the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) in Buryatia. As TASS reports , the Central District Court of Omsk arrested and sent Belarusian citizen Sergei Eremeev into custody until January 30, 2024.

During the trial, Eremeev admitted guilt and said that his goal was to paralyze traffic on the railway in order to interfere with the transportation of military cargo. “I wrote in the explanation that ammunition is now being transported through BAM […]. The main goal was to impede the movement,” he said.

According to investigators, in October and November in Belarus, Eremeev received from certain members of an organized criminal group at least seven unidentified explosive devices, which he took to Buryatia and used to blow up two trains with oil products. Eremeev received a monetary reward for transporting explosives and blowing up trains.

On December 1, the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport qualified the explosion on the BAM as a terrorist attack and opened a criminal case under the relevant article (Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code).

On December 7, the FSB announced the detention in Omsk of a citizen of Belarus suspected of a terrorist attack, who admitted to committing terrorist attacks on instructions from the Ukrainian special services.
