The owner of social network X (former Twitter) Elon Musk unblocked the account of American radio host, conspiracy theorist and right-wing activist Alex Jones.
Before this, the businessman held a vote on his page. Almost two million X users took part in the survey, 70% of them were in favor of unblocking Jones' account.
“People have had their say, so it will be so,” Musk concluded .
The former Twitter administration banned Alex Jones and his show InfoWars in 2018. This comes after his claims about the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, which left 27 people dead. Jones claimed that the massacre was staged. The conspiracy theorist was sued by relatives of those killed at Sandy Hook. In 2022, the court ordered him to pay nearly $1.5 billion in compensation to plaintiffs. Jones then filed for bankruptcy.
After his X account was unblocked, Jones retweeted a post by Andrew Tate (a blogger accused of rape, human trafficking and sexual exploitation of women) who congratulated him on his return.
