And he could compete with Bykov, who controlled (of course, with the knowledge and under the care of the organs) by that time the entire shadow Krasnoyarsk. For which Philip was sentenced. Не то чтобы урок сильно жалко, но что происходило с городом и горожанами в те дни, когда будильник звенел чуть не ежедневно? Какой еще тогда, впервые в послесталинское время, стала цена жизни?

Быков бился одновременно и за деньги, и за власть. И за алюминий, и чтобы серьезные мужчины не относились к нему свысока, не сплевывали при его появлении.

Не знаю, мог бы он конвертировать деньги во власть, ему просто было нужно все и сразу, одного бизнеса мало, еще чтоб люди вокруг кланялись ему, благодетелю, — и сколько таких судеб… Куда от себя деться, от характера, что выковался-отлился в 80-е, когда он начинал вырывать себе место под солнцем? От волчьего аппетита, что и стал характером?

Это в клетке медведя мыши бегают свободно, а орел не ловит мух. У людей иначе. Это логика любого деспота, тоталитарного сообщества — такое внимание к деталям, запятым… Ну казалось бы, какое дело огромному государству до судеб маленьких людей, сказавших или написавших что-то не то, какая ему угроза от них, что ему до них?

Истории легализации бандитствовавших в конце 80-х — начале 90-х спортсменов и комсомольцев, «беспредельщиков» по всем городам и весям похожи.

Красноярск и Питер, впрочем, особая песня («уралмашевские» в Екатеринбурге недотянули до уровня).
