Most of the objects and documents presented in the exposition, reminiscent of the years spent in prison, were preserved and transferred to the international memorial by the former prisoners and their descendants.
According to the website of the international memorial , the exhibition does not aim to cover the huge topic "Woman in the Gulag."
“We only wanted to show how in a few and unique things the memory of the camp is manifested, what the point of these objects carry in themselves - reminiscent of the fate of many thousands of prisoners. Those who managed to save these things understood what they were talking about, the organizers of the exhibition write.
“What could be accumulated over the years of camp life? Take away with you in a home -made plywood suitcase? What to save, for a long time without your corner? The collection of the International Memorial collected over 30 years shows with all the obviously that it is most often objects of fabric, from different material , which was so value for women in conclusion. ”
