French police have released writer Frédéric Beigbeder from custody, Franceinfo and Le Figaro report . Earlier, French media wrote that he was being investigated in a rape case.
Prosecutor Rodolphe Jarry told reporters that Beigbeder disputes the charges against him. The preliminary investigation will continue, Jarry added.
Earlier, France Bleu, citing a police source , reported that a preliminary investigation was being carried out against the writer for rape. According to Francetvinfo, a young woman wrote a complaint against Beigbeder last summer. She said that while at the hotel, she entered into a consensual sexual relationship with the writer, after which a second sexual relationship took place between them that same evening - to which she did not consent.
Beigbeder was questioned at the Pau police station at 9 a.m. today.
