Egor Denisov - about extended suicide

in the publication “Terta” Criminologist, specialist in serial and mass murders Egor Denisov writes :

“Such crimes should be characterized not as a kind of mass murder in the classical sense, but as an extended suicide. Mass murders are usually committed by individuals with psychopathology, including narcissism. One of the motives for such crimes is the desire for self-affirmation. You may have noticed that some mass murderers recorded some statements and wrote posts. In this case, there is no information about this and, in my opinion, there will not be any. It is not yet possible to say for sure, but there is reason to believe that the person was subjected to bullying or similar pressure at school. Moreover, this kind of breakdown is characterized by the fact that the child had no one to turn to for help for one reason or another.

We do not have a system for preventing such crimes. In Russian schools, with rare exceptions, there are no anti-bullying programs, and the work of school psychologists is carried out formally.

There is no significant correlation between school security measures and the likelihood of attacks or the number of victims. Such crimes are associated with the accumulation of psycho-emotional stress, and it is discharged directly onto accessible objects. The victims are those who had access and were associated with some strong negative experiences. If there were guards with machine guns at the gymnasium in Bryansk, the abstract “shooter” could go to the shopping center or somewhere else. That is, the presence of armed guards and metal detectors do not solve the problem.

And tightening measures on the ownership and storage of weapons will not lead to a solution to the problem. Children will always find a way to spy on the code and generally figure out how to deceive their parents in order to gain access to weapons.

To prevent such crimes, psychological work is paramount.”
