The Russian government has approved the Concept for reducing alcohol consumption for the period until 2030, RBC reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Health.
The goal of the concept is to reduce average alcohol consumption by 12.3% - from 8.9 liters of ethanol per resident in 2023 to 7.8 liters in 2030.
As part of the program, it is planned to strengthen preventive measures to identify alcoholism, reduce “inappropriate consumption” of drugs and cosmetics containing ethanol, and combat the illegal production and trafficking of alcoholic beverages.
To combat excessive alcohol consumption, they plan to attract socially oriented NGOs, as well as use “the best municipal, regional and corporate programs” to reduce alcohol consumption.
