Vishnevsky clarifies that in the fall, reacting to “a collective appeal from the wives of the mobilized,” he proposed to Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to limit the service life of those called up for mobilization to one year.

“The term of military service of citizens of the Russian Federation called up as part of partial mobilization expires upon completion of the period of partial mobilization on the basis of the relevant Decree of the President of the Russian Federation. Establishing a different period of military service for citizens of the Russian Federation called up as part of partial mobilization is considered inappropriate,” the response says.
