In the Pskov region, fines were introduced for “inducing” women to have abortions

In the Pskov region, it was prohibited to “induce” women to have abortions and introduced fines. The recording of the meeting was published on the page of the local regional assembly of deputies on VKontakte.

“By inducing an artificial termination of pregnancy is meant the commission of actions with the aim of forcing a pregnant woman to have an artificial termination of pregnancy through persuasion, offers, bribery, and deception,” the adopted document says.

Only one parliamentarian spoke out against the new law - MP from the Yabloko party Artur Gaiduk. He, according to 7x7, said that restricting abortion would lead to negative demographic consequences. Instead of new restrictions, Gaiduk called for increasing the amount of maternity capital.

Fines for “inducing” women to have abortions will range from three to five thousand rubles for citizens, from 10 to 20 thousand for managers, and from 30 to 50 thousand rubles for organizations.

Previously, similar fines were introduced by the authorities of the Tver , Novgorod , Kursk and Kaliningrad regions and Mordovia .

In addition, several Russian regions have banned abortion operations in private clinics. Nizhny Novgorod deputies decided to extend this practice throughout the country and sent a corresponding bill to the State Duma. The explanatory note states that private clinics should be excluded from the number of medical organizations that have the right to perform abortions, since they do not observe a “week of silence” and do not consult women with a psychologist, lawyer and social workers.

In total, as reported, the authorities of 14 regions have developed measures to restrict abortions. However, after Vladimir Putin’s statement about the need to respect women’s rights, Chelyabinsk and Nizhny Novgorod officials decided to reconsider their position on this issue.

At the same time, according to the independent research project Russian Field, two-thirds of Russians opposed the ban on abortion. Restrictions in this area were supported mainly by people with incomes of less than 40 thousand rubles per month, citizens over 60 years old, as well as people with secondary specialized education and parents of three or more children.
