Shoigu reports on the capture of Maryinka, the Armed Forces of Ukraine say that it is incorrect to say that. What's happening?

The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu reported to Vladimir Putin that Russian troops seized the city of Maryinka southwest of Donetsk. The representative of the United Press Center for the Defense Forces of the Tavriysk direction reported on the air of the Ukrainian telemarathon that "to talk about the capture of the destroyed city is incorrect."

Two effects

Sergei Shoigu said that over the nine years, the Armed Forces of Ukraine created a powerful fortified area with underground passages in the city. “In fact, on every street - its well -fortified and quite well -protected from all the blows from both the air and artillery of structures, long -term firing points, a complex system of underground communications. Thanks to the decisive actions of our military personnel, the fortified is hacked, ”Shoigu reported.

“Indeed, there are at least two positive effects here,” said Vladimir Putin. - The first is that we move the enemy’s military units from Donetsk. The second - hacking this fortified area, which the enemy has built since 2014, actually built a significant number of reinforced concrete fortifications, the moves of the message there - our troops are able to reach a wider operational scope. ”

Maryinka is a small town located one kilometer from the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. Until 2014, approximately 9,400 people lived in the village. On November 3, 2022, the Ukrainian authorities stated that they fully evacuated the civilian population of Maryinka.

Pyrrhic victory

“Maryinka is a very small settlement,” says Israeli military expert David Sharp. - Its area is less than 13 square kilometers. The battles for this town have been going on since 2014. Collisions in this site took place even after the signing of the Minsk Agreements. And with the beginning of a large -scale invasion of the battle, they practically did not subside there. Maryinka is absolutely destroyed, erased from the face of the earth. For a long time, part of the town was controlled by the Russian army. And in recent days, Ukrainians have already held a small area on its western outskirts. We saw the gradual crowding out of the defenders, primarily due to artillery blows. We are not talking about any breakthrough or attempt to cover large forces. This is obvious, you just have to see what distance the Russians managed to advance in almost two years of constant attacks.

“The Russians were completely destroyed by Maryinka,” Roman Svitan confirms the Armed Forces Colonel in reserve.

- The town rolled up to zero artillery and aviation. The Armed Forces kept there while at least some buildings remained intact. As a result, after the total destruction of all almost houses, it was decided to move to heights,

Located to the west of Maryinka. This is a very convenient line of defense. The tools installed there destroy Russians who are sent to “meat assaults”. In this direction, the army of the Russian Federation carries losses in thousands of dead and wounded monthly. During the attacks, tens of thousands of soldiers were knocked out. It is interesting that Russians now also have nothing to cling to what was the city before. So this is Pirrova Victory.

David Sharp believes that the meager promotion of Russian troops in Maryinka cannot even be called a tactical victory. According to the Israeli expert, the successful mastery of the town is the local success of Russia. At the moment, there is no reason to assume that the army of the Russian Federation will be able to develop an offensive in this direction.

Hold Avdeevka

- The loss of Maryinka is not serious. A completely different situation is near Avdeevka, which is located at altitudes, ”says Roman Svitan. - In order to seriously attack the Avdeevsky fortified area, massive air bombing is required. And the last air ambush showed the vulnerability of Russian aircraft before Ukrainian air defense. But if the Russians still be able to cut Avdeevka with the ground and the threat of the occurrence of the “boiler” will become real, then the Armed Forces will have to retreat in some areas at a distance of 20 kilometers - to the line of defense of Kurakhovo - Karlovka and towards the city of Konstantinovka.

“Avdeevka is much larger than Maryinka,” continues David Sharp. - There is a much more powerful fortified area. He is held by large forces of the Armed Forces. If the Russians manage to take them into an operational or tactical environment, these units will be forced to hastily retreat, which can in the worst case lead to an eagerly escape. However, so far there are no prerequisites for such a development of events.
