Ekaterina Duntsova announced her intention to create her own party

Journalist Ekaterina Duntsova, who was trying to run as a presidential candidate, announced her intention to create her own party. A corresponding message appeared on her Telegram channel.

“The majority of Russians want a peaceful democratic future, and simple common sense. There are tens of millions of us, but not a single political party represents us or wants to represent us. We have no other way but to create a party ourselves and push for change. This is our Motherland, and there will never be another,” it says.

Duntsova also called for Boris Nadezhdin to help collect signatures, “so that there is at least one candidate with a peaceful agenda on the ballot.”

Duntsova’s statement appeared after the Supreme Court recognized as legal the refusal to register an initiative group to nominate her as a presidential candidate.

Judge Oleg Nefedov rejected the claim of Duntsova, who tried to challenge the decision of the Central Election Commission. Earlier, which previously recognized the non-existent “international LGBT movement” as extremist. During the consideration of the claim, Duntsova insisted that the errors in the documents, due to which the Central Election Commission refused to register her initiative group, were of a technical nature. She asked the court to approach the consideration of the claim without formalism.

On December 23, the Central Election Commission refused to register the initiative group to nominate Duntsova as a presidential candidate, saying that 100 errors were found in the submitted documents.

After this, Duntsova asked the Yabloko party to nominate her as a candidate in the presidential elections. There they refused her, citing the fact that they did not know who she was.

Journalist Ekaterina Duntsova announced her plans to run as a candidate in the upcoming presidential elections in Russia on November 16. Then she said that “the country has been moving in the wrong direction for the last ten years.” After this, she was summoned for questioning to the prosecutor’s office, where they asked about her attitude to the war in Ukraine. And later the security forces came to check with a notary, who certified the minutes of the meeting of the initiative group to nominate Duntsova.
