The screenwriter and co -author of Alexander Sokurov Yuri Arabov died

The screenwriter Yuri Arav died, TASS reports with reference to the Union of Cinematographers. He was 69 years old.

The causes of his death are not specified.

Arabov was a screenwriter, prose writer, poet and teacher of VGIK, as well as a laureate of various literary and cinema awards.

The first picture of Arabov as a screenwriter was the film “The Lone Voice of a Man”, shot in 1978 and released in 1987. Arabs were also a permanent co -author of Alexander Sokurov and scriptwriter 12 of his paintings.

At the Cannes Festival of 1999, Arabov received the Golden Branch for the script for Sokurov’s film “Moloch”.

Together with the director Andrei Khrzhanovsky, the Arabs participated in the scenario work on the film “One and a half rooms, or a sentimental trip to their homeland”, shot through the literary works of Brodsky, and over the cartoon “Nose, or“ Conspiracy of the NOT THIS ”” based on the works of Nikolai Gogol.

Arabov was also a screenwriter of a number of Russian series - including Dr. Zhivago.

In addition, the Arabs were one of the informal organizers of the Poetry club-a literary and artistic association in Moscow, created in 1985, whose members were Lev Rubinstein, Sergey Gandlevsky, Igor Irteniev, Dmitry Prigov and many others.
