Kamchatka: a pensioner was fined for talking about the army in the market

In Kamchatka, the court fined the pensioner Tatyana Plavshuk for songs in Ukrainian and the "discrediting" of the Russian army, the press service of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka City Court reported.

According to the press service of the court, a local resident born in 1963, in the market on the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution, where she works, expressed insults against Russia and Russians, accused the Russian military of violence and murders of civilians during the war in Ukraine. Witnesses in court said that Plavshuk did this repeatedly, and also defiantly listened to songs in Ukrainian.

It is noted that the pensioner did not plead guilty and stated that she was stipulated due to the hostile attitude of others to her. The court found Plavshuk guilty of "discredit" by the Russian army and fined it 30 thousand rubles.

• On March 31, in Kamchatka, the court found the journalist and the head of the regional Yabloko Vladimir Efimov guilty of "discrediting" the Russian army because of his pacifist position. He was assigned a fine of 200 thousand rubles and banned for two years to use the Internet.
• At the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the authorities of the Russian Federation introduced administrative and criminal liability for "discrediting" and "fakes" about the Armed Forces of Russia. These articles are persecuted by citizens who publish data on the military crimes of the Russian army, and also express disagreement with the position of the Russian authorities in the Ukrainian conflict. According to amendments, for the “distribution of fakes about a military operation, calls for sanctions and discrediting the Russian Armed Forces” may be sentenced to imprisonment for up to 15 years. In 2023, the courts first began to appoint real terms for the "discredit" of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
