On the morning of January 8, an air raid alert was announced in several Ukrainian regions; authorities in the Kharkov and Zaporozhye regional administrations reported explosions that injured at least four people.
As the head of the regional administration Oleg Sinegubov clarified, four strikes were carried out on Kharkov. “This morning the enemy attacked the industrial facilities of the city. There is a fire and now there is one woman injured,” added the mayor of the city, Igor Terekhov.
In Zmiev, a shell hit a private house, resulting in two people being injured. Two more local residents were trapped under the rubble.
The Zaporozhye region was attacked with cruise and ballistic missiles, said the head of the local regional administration, Yuriy Malashko. According to authorities' estimates, five explosions were heard in the regional center. A woman and a man were injured as a result of shells hitting residential areas.
The head of the Lviv regional military administration, Maxim Kozitsky, also warned about the missile danger. He wrote that 10 Tu-95MS missile-carrying bombers took off from the Olenya airfield in the Murmansk region towards the region, and Kozitsky also spoke about a possible Kinzhal attack. Later the head of the region announced that the danger had passed.
The threat of a missile strike was also reported by the head of the Dnepropetrovsk regional military administration Sergei Lysak , the mayor of Dnieper Boris Filatov and the head of the military administration of Kiev Sergei Popko. The mayor of the city of Khmelnitsky, Alexander Semchishin, wrote only about the air raid warning.
Later, Lysak spoke about the damage to a shopping center in Krivoy Rog and one casualty. A 62-year-old woman died in the Lozovat community of the Krivoy Rog region. During the attack on Novomaisk, 24 people were injured, including five minors.
Alexander Prokudin, head of the Kherson regional administration, spoke about the consequences of the shelling that occurred over the past 24 hours. “The enemy carried out 131 attacks, firing 670 shells from mortars, artillery, Grads, tanks, UAVs and aircraft,” he specified. According to Prokudin, residential areas and “a critical infrastructure facility on the territory of the plant in Kherson” were damaged.
In addition, Sergei Lysak reported that during the night the Nikopol district of the Dnepropetrovsk region was shelled twice from artillery. The hits occurred in the regional center and the city of Marganets. Two five-story buildings, a private house, an outbuilding and a car were damaged.
Over the past 24 hours, the Kherson region was shelled 16 times, for which the Russian military used 83 shells, wrote the head of the local military administration, Roman Mrochko. As a result of the attacks, two people were killed and three more were moderately injured.
