A transgender girl from Russia, Antonina Babkina, committed suicide in the Netherlands. This was reported by the human rights organization LGBT World Beside. They noted that this is the fifth such case in the country in a year.
Babkina left Russia at the end of February 2022. In March, she flew to Amsterdam and applied for refugee, writes “That’s So.” In her Telegram channel, which has now been deleted, Babkina complained about the lack of medications and psychological help.
“After what happened to me, I began to hate the Netherlands. Because I was never restarted on antidepressants, I have withdrawal symptoms. [Organizations for refugees] don’t care that you have a mental disorder, they recognize everyone as healthy and, moreover, don’t even carry out trivial testing,” Babkina wrote in August 2022.
In September she complained that in the Netherlands it was impossible to get help even in crisis situations. “If you are mentally ill, it is better not to run to the Netherlands. If there is nowhere to run except the Netherlands, it is better to commit suicide in Russia right away,” Babkina wrote.
