On the evening of October 29, several hundred people broke into Makhachkala airport. Participants in the anti-Semitic pogrom checked the documents of arriving passengers; some of them ran onto the tarmac with Palestinian flags in their hands and even tried to board one of the planes. The pogromists were looking for Jews who were supposed to fly to Dagestan on a flight from Tel Aviv.

As it turned out later, during the clashes between the participants in the pogrom and the security forces, at least 20 people were injured. Damage to the airport was estimated at 285 million rubles.
