US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been discharged from the hospital, CNN reports.
“I am recovering and carrying out my duties from home. “I expect to make a full recovery and return to the Pentagon as soon as possible,” Austin himself said.
The Pentagon emphasized that Austin has full access to secure communication channels.
- Austin was hospitalized on Jan. 1 with severe pain in his abdomen, hip and leg. He was later diagnosed with prostate cancer - doctors reported that it was at an early stage and expressed confidence in the possibility of successful treatment.
- The hospitalization was publicly reported only on January 5. Moreover, as it turned out later, until January 4, even the White House did not know that Austin was in the hospital.
