According to report a 2023 from analyst firm International Data Corporation (IDC), Apple has overtaken Samsung in global smartphone sales. The American company delivered about 235 million iPhones to stores. This is 8 million more than the long-time leader Samsung. The South Korean corporation's shipments are estimated at 226 million smartphones. The Xiaomi brand took third position with 146 million units sold. Next on the list are smartphones from Oppo and Transsion.

For the first time since 2010, the sales leader was not Samsung. Experts attribute this to competition in the Android device market. The brands Xiaomi, Honor, OnePlus and Google Pixel have gained popularity there. There is also renewed competition from Huawei in China, which is said to be its largest sales market. In total, global device shipments decreased by 3% and amounted to 1.17 billion smartphones.

A source from RIA Novosti said that in Russia, Apple products in terms of unit sales in 2023 could not enter the top five and became only sixth in the ranking. The top 3 best-selling brands are Xiaomi, Tecno (Transsion company) and realme. Samsung in Russia is in fourth place.
