The founder of the European University in St. Petersburg Boris Firsov died

The founder of the European University in St. Petersburg, sociologist Boris Firsov died at the age of 94, said political analyst Vladimir Gelman.

Boris Firsov founded the European University in 1994 and became its first rector. He led the university until 2003, after which he became an honorary rector.

Firsov is the author of more than 200 scientific works on the theory and methodology of modern sociology, the history of Soviet sociology and issues of studying public consciousness.

• After the creation, the European University received cash grants from American and European non -profit organizations. In 2016, the university for one year was deprived of a license for educational activities after the prosecutor's office and Rosobrnadzor were checked at the university. In the following years, the university was repeatedly checked, including employees of Rosobrnadzor.
