Almost 300 thousand people signed a petition demanding the dismissal of the Russian Railways conductor responsible for the death of Twix the cat. Another hundred thousand signed the demand to initiate a criminal case against the woman, reports . RIA Novosti

On January 11, the conductor of the Russian Railways Ekaterinburg-St. Petersburg train found a cat in the carriage and threw it out into the street in 30-degree frost. It later turned out that a cat named Twix was traveling in the carriage legally with its owner. A ticket was purchased for him and he traveled in a carrier, from which he was somehow able to get out.

After the incident became known, hundreds of volunteers joined the search for Twix. Nine days later, was found his body in Kirov. According to veterinarians, Twix died from dog bites and frostbite.

Russian Railways apologized for what happened and promised to prevent such a situation from reoccurring in the future. The company reported that it would change the rules for transporting pets on long-distance trains, in particular, conductors would be prohibited from disembarking discovered animals.

The conductor who threw Twix out into the street later claimed that she was trying to find the owner of the animal and interviewed the passengers. At the same time, Fontanka, referring to a current employee of Russian Railways, wrote that “it was impossible not to find the owner.” According to the publication's interlocutor, each conductor has a special service device, which contains all the data about passengers and their luggage, including information about small animals being transported. Thus, to find the owner of Twix, the conductor only had to check the device.
