At the end of last year, a criminal case was opened against Barnaul resident Andrei Vitovtov under the article on justification of terrorism (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code) due to publications in an anonymous telegram channel. His wife Elena told OVD-Info about this.
The man was detained on the street on December 12, after which he was taken to the apartment for a search. Electronic devices, a collection of Soviet medals, certificates and badges, money, as well as a bank card were confiscated from him (the security forces deny that the latter was confiscated). On the same day, a search was carried out at the spare parts warehouse rented by Vitovtov. After the searches, the Barnaul resident was sent to a pre-trial detention center.
Elena told OVD-Info that her husband is accused of publishing in the telegram channel “Ice under the Major’s Feet” about the assassination attempt on propagandist Zakhar Prilepin and about drone attacks on the Moscow City quarter of the capital. According to her, the security forces have no evidence of his guilt.
While in prison, the man began to have health problems: his hand went numb. Vitovtov is denied visits from his family because he refuses to cooperate with the investigation.
