On the night of January 25, a fire occurred at an oil depot in Tuapse. This was announced by the head of the Tuapse district Sergei Boyko. He clarified that the fire occurred in a vacuum installation. “I ask you to trust official sources of information and not to post videos from the scene of the incident in order to avoid adverse consequences,” Boyko wrote in his Telegram channel.
A few hours later, he reported that the fire had been extinguished, adding that there were no casualties. However, Boyko did not say anything about the causes of the fire.
In turn, the telegram channel Baza, citing local residents, claims that the cause of the fire at the oil depot in Tuapse was a drone attack.
At the same time, the Shot telegram channel announced a temporary cessation of operations at the airport in Sochi. According to the publication, the “Carpet” plan was introduced there for several hours due to the threat of a drone attack.
As a result, some flights were redirected to Mineralnye Vody airport, and several more aircraft were forced to wait in the air for the airport to open.
In January, Ukrainian drones have already attacked Russian fuel and energy complex facilities several times. Thus, on January 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense for the first time since the beginning of the war in Ukraine reported on the interception of a drone in the sky over the Leningrad region.
Later, the Ukrainian press, citing sources , wrote that this attack was a special operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, and its target was the St. Petersburg oil terminal.
Information about the attack on the terminal was also confirmed by its co-owner Mikhail Skigin. He emphasized that the work of air defense in the Leningrad region “made it possible to prevent a monstrous catastrophe, which could have resulted in dire consequences, human casualties, and gigantic environmental damage to the Baltic.”
On January 21, Ukrainian drones attacked the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region. As a result, a large gas storage facility belonging to the Novatek company was damaged and caught fire.
