Professional informer Vitaly Borodin asked to recognize Boris Nadezhdin as a “foreign agent”

Professional informer Vitaly Borodin approached the Prosecutor General's Office with a request to check potential presidential candidate Boris Nadezhdin and recognize him as a “foreign agent.” A copy of his letter to the department was published by the pro-government media Russia Today .

“The presidential candidate of the Russian Federation intends to impose on Russians what the Russian Federation is so diligently trying to protect its people from Nazism, extremism, LGBT propaganda,” Borodin wrote. He also drew attention to Nadezhdin’s support from opposition politicians; in particular, the informer mentioned that Yulia Navalnaya had signed in support of the candidate .

Another reason for conducting an investigation into Nadezhdin, Borodin called “rumors that the main sponsor of Boris Nadezhdin is the oligarch Mikhail Khodorkovsky, who escaped from Russia, and is on the federal wanted list.”

journalists SOTAvision contacted the press service of Boris Nadezhdin. There they were told that there was no reason to recognize the politician as a “foreign agent”. “We don’t consider it necessary to make a statement after each initiative of the city’s crazy people,” the press service added.

Boris Nadezhdin is a deputy of the Council of Deputies of Dolgoprudny near Moscow. In 1999, he was elected to the State Duma from the Union of Right Forces. Afterwards he was a member of the Right Cause party, and in 2021 he was nominated as a candidate for State Duma deputy from A Just Russia. He participated in political talk shows on federal channels.

Nadezhdin said that he was in favor of ending the war and “long negotiations” with Ukraine over Crimea. His campaign website says : “Putin made a fatal mistake by launching the SVO. None of the stated goals of the SVO have been achieved. And it’s hardly feasible without huge damage to the economy and an irreparable blow to demographics.”
