CEC registered Putin as a candidate for the president of Russia

On Monday, the CEC of Russia registered Vladimir Putin as a candidate for the post of president of Russia.

The current president is running for the fifth time. Due to the amendments to the Constitution, the essence and procedure of the adoption of which experts criticized, Putin has the right to become president in the fifth (and sixth) time. For the first time he took this post in 2000.

Putin goes to the election by a self -nominee. For registration, he needed to collect at least three hundred thousand signatures of Russians from different regions of the country in support of their nomination. Of the 60 thousand selected signatures 91, it was invalidated (0.15%). This is less than the threshold of 5%, the excess of which can lead to a refusal to register.

During the collection of signatures for Putin, numerous violations took place. In particular, in St. Petersburg signatures were collected by members of the precinct commission, which is directly prohibited by law. Representatives of the regional authorities reported on the signature stated for Putin, simultaneously praising him - according to the law "Creation of a positive image of a candidate" is considered agitation. Officials and deputies are prohibited.

The CEC submitted an application not to register Putin as a candidate. One of the grounds is just violations in the collection of signatures, the other is "illegal amendments to the Constitution." The complaint was signed by 26 former and current Russian deputies of various levels of power.

Putin became the fourth registered candidate - after Vladislav Davankov from the "new people", Nikolai Kharitonov from the Communist Party and Leonid Slutsky from the LDPR. Their parties are presented in the State Duma, so they do not need to collect signatures. In total, 11 candidates apply for the president, the collection of signatures will end on January 31.

Also today, the collection of voting applications using DEG (except Moscow) or at the location begins today .

The head of the CEC Ella Pamfilova at a meeting of the commission announced that the slogan of the election campaign would be "together we are power - we are voting for Russia." In 2018, when Putin ran for the fourth term, the slogan sounded like this: "Our country, our president, our choice!"
