The Leninsk-Kuznetsky City Court of the Kemerovo Region sentenced local resident Ivan Konovalov to two years probation in the case of attempting to hack the website of the Kuzbass branch of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company. This is stated in the press release of the court, to which Mediazona drew attention.
On January 10, the court found Konovalov guilty of using the program to unlawfully influence critical infrastructure (Part 1 of Article 271.4 of the Criminal Code). In addition to the suspended sentence, he was given two years of probation.
According to the text of the verdict published on the court’s website, a resident of Leninsk-Kuznetsky no later than December 20, 2022, while at home, downloaded a “ from his HP laptop. malicious computer program for password guessing” on the Internet and tried to hack the information resources of the Kuzbass State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company
In court, Konovalov fully admitted his guilt. The case was considered in a special order. When imposing the punishment, the court took into account that Konovalov had not previously been prosecuted and was engaged in “charitable activities for the Northern Military District.”
Taking into account Konovalov’s “active contribution to the detection and investigation of the crime,” the court decided not to impose on him the mandatory fine provided for in Article 271.4 of the Criminal Code.
