How a politician is trying to become a presidential candidate
The candidate from the Civil Initiative party Boris Nadezhdin brought 105 thousand signatures to the Central Election Commission in support of his nomination to the president, the press service said. In a conversation with reporters near the building of the Central Election Commission, Nadezhdin said that in total, 208 thousand signatures were collected during the campaign. At the same time, only signatures collected in Russia were handed over to the CEC. In the morning, the Central Election Commission said that they did not find violations in the documents for registration of Nadezhdin. Thus, the commission expressed their readiness to accept signature sheets from the candidate. On January 31, the CEC was also submitted by the candidate from the “Russian Party of Freedom and Justice” Andrei Bogdanov, after which he wrote a statement about leaving the presidential race. The day before, the head of the Russian National Union party, Sergei Baburin, acted in the same way. The CEC must decide on the registration of all candidates for elections no later than February 10.
