12 developers of hypersonic technologies - BBC were arrested in Russia

In Russia, at least 12 scientists were arrested who studied physical processes at hypersonic speeds. All of them were accused of Gosizman. Three detainees have already died, BBC reports .

The FSB began to be actively interested in specialists in this area after 2018 - then President Vladimir Putin presented "Russian hypersonic missiles in the world who have no analogues in the world in the message to the Federal Assembly.

Subsequently, several scientists studying hypersonic were arrested at the Central Research Institute of Mechanical Engineering (TsNIIMASH), the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor Zhukovsky (TsAGI), as well as at the Novosibirsk Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ITPM) of the Siberian branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In the ITPM, the defendants in the cases of the Stateizer were director Alexander Shiplyuk and the main researchers Alexander Maslov and Valery Zvelygintsev. The first two were accused of transferring secrets to China.

On October 27, the court sentenced to 12 years in a maximum security colony, physicist Anatoly Gubanov, who worked as the head of the department in TsAGI. According to investigators, he transmitted secret information to one of the European states about the Hexafly -int hypersonic civilian aircraft, in the development of which, in addition to Russia, Belgium, Great Britain, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands participated.

In the Central Research Institute of State Media, the affairs of the Stateizer were brought to a leading specialist, physics of Vladimir Kudryavtsev. However, he died, not having lived before the trial. The same fate befell the head of the Center for Heat Exercise and aerogazodynamics of TsNIIMASH Roman Kovalev - he was released for health reasons on April 13, 2022 and two weeks later he died of cancer.

Another deceased under investigation is the capture of quantum optical technologies at the Institute of Laser Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences Dmitry Kolker, who was taken to a pre -trial detention center directly from the hospital at the first stage of cancer. He died two days later.
