The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense states that it destroyed the Ivanovets boat of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on the night of February 1. He was in a roadstead on Lake Donuzlav in annexed Crimea.
“As a result of a number of direct hits to the hull, the Russian ship received damage that was incompatible with further movement - the Ivanovets tilted to the stern and sank,” the Main Intelligence Directorate stated.
The video, which is published by also Russian military channels, depicts the moment the boat exploded. Several naval drones are attacking a ship whose silhouette resembles the Project 1241 Molniya missile boat, to which the Ivanovets belongs, reports . Meduza
The number of victims is not reported. Project 1241 missile boats are designed for a crew of 40 people. The boat "Ivanovets" was put into operation in December 1989.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on the situation.
Military observer for the BBC Russian Service Pavel Aksenov said that this is the second Russian warship with missile weapons to be destroyed at sea. By international standards, this boat is a corvette. The success of this attack may mean that “the Ukrainian Armed Forces are improving the tactics of combating the Black Sea Fleet, when cruise missiles are used to attack stationary targets in docks and berths, and naval targets in roadsteads and on the high seas are used by unmanned ships.”
