The Russian Prosecutor General's Office has recognized the non-governmental organization Russian Election Monitor as “undesirable”. “REM information platforms are used to prepare foreign audiences to recognize the presidential elections in Russia as illegitimate. For these purposes, the organization closely cooperates with relocants who discredit Russian policy in the international arena and relays materials from foreign agents, unwanted and extremist organizations. Actively participates in the anti-Russian campaign to spread fakes about the SVO,” he added.

The Russian Election Monitor website states that the organization was created by an initiative group of European scientists, former and current politicians and government officials. The organization declares its goal to provide an international audience with expert analysis of electoral events in Russia.
