The Russian Federation refuses to return to Ukraine the bodies of supposedly dead on board the IL -76 prisoners of war - GUR

Russia refuses to transfer to Ukraine the bodies of prisoners of war that allegedly killed as a result of the fall of the IL-76 military transport aircraft in the Belgorod Region of the Russian Federation on January 24, the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine Andrei Yusov said on the air of national television.

According to him, Ukraine appealed to the Russian Federation with a corresponding request, but " the Russian side does not go to this ."

Ukraine requires an impartial international investigation of the circumstances of the fall and the one who was inside, he added.

Yusov emphasized that Ukraine still considers 65 prisoners of war, who were declared dead in Russia.

The day before, the 50th exchange of prisoners took place, as a result of which Ukraine returned 207 military. This was the “almost completion” of the tolerated operation on the IL-76 fall: everyone who was supposed to exchange on January 24, except 65 people from the Russian list of allegedly dead were returned home, Yusov said.

The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the presidential administration did not receive appeals from Kiev with a request to transfer the bodies of Ukrainian prisoners who died during the collapse of the IL-76 military transport aircraft in the Belgorod region.

“ No to the administration ,” Peskov answered the question of whether such an appeal was received to the presidential administration.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that there were 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war on board the IL-76, six crew members and three accompanying people, all of them died. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a case of a terrorist attack. According to the Russian investigation, the plane was knocked out by two missiles released from the American anti-aircraft missile system Patriot.
