Lawyer Alexei Liptser, who defended the interests of politician Alexei Navalny and was arrested on charges of participation in an “extremist community,” said that his health condition had worsened in the pre-trial detention center. about this on the air of Dozhd . spoke Liptser’s close friend, journalist Pavel Kanygin,
“I have spider veins all over my legs, on my face (on my cheeks), petechiae (spots that appear as a result of hemorrhage) on my legs, arms, face. I also have pimples on my hands, fingers and arms; there were even small rashes on my palms. The rash on the palms is strange, it either flares up brightly, then subsides,” says Liptser’s letter to the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center, which Kanygin quoted.
As Dozhd presenter Polina Milushkova said, the symptoms described resemble an autoimmune disease. “But we don’t know for sure because doctors call these symptoms an attack of hypochondria and fiction. Letters from [Liptser’s] wife are now shown to a psychologist, and then the correspondence with Liptser himself is discussed,” she added.
After complaints, the lawyer was sent to a dermatologist, but he did not identify any problems with his health, and the prison psychologist said that now communication with the prisoner would only take place through him, Kanygin said. According to him, this is another act of censorship on the part of the Federal Penitentiary Service, which almost does not allow correspondence to Liptser.
