The administrative case against Bashkir activist Ildar Yumagulov was discontinued due to the lack of an offense. Information about this was published on the website of the Baymaksky District Court, RusNews noted .
The protocol on the article on the organization of a public event (Part 1 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) was drawn up because of a village meeting at which the lack of changes to the Constitution of Bashkortostan, agrarian issues, as well as topics of ecology and environmental management were discussed.
On February 2, Yumagulov said that searches were carried out at his home and work, his wife was first detained, but later released. On his YouTube channel, the man covered protests against the sentence of Fail Alsynov. The blogger left Bashkortostan, saying that he did not feel safe. Back on January 16, before Alsynov’s sentence was announced, unknown people tried to enter Yumagulov’s apartment, claiming to be police officers.
- This is not the first time Ildar Yumagulov has faced pressure. The activist opposes illegal gold mining in the Trans-Ural region; because of one of the actions, an administrative case was opened against him in 2023, but the proceedings were later stopped . On April 18, 2021, Yumagulov was beaten near an auto parts store in Baymak. The man had both legs broken and had numerous bruises and abrasions throughout his body. He was in the hospital for about a month, then underwent long-term rehabilitation. Yumagulov and his associates believe that the beating was related to his environmental activism. In September 2022, all those accused of the attack were sentenced to real terms.
