Andrey Korobkov - about immigration

Professor of political science at the University of Tennessee (USA) Andrei Korobkov writes in his column for RTVI :

“Democrats’ hopes that their electoral support would grow due to immigrants did not materialize.

It is expected that more than half of Hispanic voters may vote for Trump for the first time. They are socially conservative and work very hard. They are not always impressed by the policies of the Democrats. Most of them came legally, and they don’t like the fact that they stood in line for citizenship for ten years or more, and then people come who claim that they are being persecuted (although in reality they are often economic migrants), and practically immediately receive many benefits.

At the same time, among leftist enthusiasts of complete freedom of immigration there are many young whites from wealthy families. It is they who often come out with loud slogans, while a significant part of “ordinary” Americans, on the contrary, are very wary of mass informal immigration - and this, by the way, is one of the keys to Trump’s mass popularity.”
