in The Moscow Times (included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of foreign agents) Journalist and writer Valery Panyushkin writes :
“The Supreme Commander-in-Chief Zelensky travels around the world, says fair things about how Ukraine is shielding the entire civilized world from the aggressor, and the civilized world looks at the Supreme Commander, is silent, does not give weapons or money, but does not directly utter the phrase that thinks - “What kind of money do you need, are you going to steal it?” Only the impolite Viktor Orban is trying to refuse money and say roughly what he thinks - they say, it is necessary to establish control over the money. But how do you fix it? No one has ever succeeded.
General Zaluzhny, seeing that the army is commanded not by him, but by General K. (corruption - Polit.ru), still tries to somehow defend the country, despite the fact that General K. cannot be removed and one cannot disobey his orders. So the Supreme Commander-in-Chief fired all the military commissars, believing that this would be a serious blow to General K., and what happened? The corrupt officials were fired, but their absence dried up the flow of recruits to the army. So, maybe there was no need to fire? Not because corruption is good or tolerable, but because it cannot be dealt with.
President Zelensky, I don’t know if he understands this. I think he understands. He, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, hero and symbol of resistance, also cannot disobey the orders of General K. He can only make cosmetic sacrifices - dismissing, for example, Defense Minister Alexei Reznik when rumors about corruption in his department become too many. Or, like now, dismiss Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny, when there is no strength to wait any longer for military success.
But nothing can change. General K. is stronger. He is in command. And he benefits from an endless war.”
