The publication KYIV Post posted a video with the heading: “Ukrainian special forces interrogates Wagner's mercenaries in Sudan.” There, employees of the Ukrainian special forces first inspect military vehicles, in one of which you can see the body of a soldier and the Wagner PMC icon at a passenger seat. In the next part of the video, Ukrainian fighters pass by several corpses, after which three prisoners are interviewed: Russian -speaking and two Africans. One of them in Russian admits that he is a soldier of the PMC Wagner.
- How did you get to Sudan?
- We drove through the tsar to Hartum.
- What is the goal?
- To overthrow the local government. The dialogue between the captive mercenary and the Ukrainian military.
In response to the questions of the Ukrainian special forces, the Russian -speaking prison officers replies that they fell into Sudan through the Central African Republic, where 100 Wagner mercenaries are based. During the interrogation, dark -skinned PMC fighters said that for their work they receive a thousand dollars a month.
The same video published the Ukrainian project "I want to live." The prison interrogation was called "replenishment of the exchange fund from Sudan."

“Unknown fighters, similar to the specialists of the GUR MO, captured the mercenaries of the Wagner PMC, whom Russia sent to Africa to overthrow the government of another African country - Sudan,” the post said.
Wagner's mercenaries were detained by employees of the Timur special forces, which is part of the military intelligence department of Ukraine. These units have been in Sudan for several months. In January 2024, the world media posted the video how Ukrainian drones hit the positions of the Wagner PMC. Then the special services of Ukraine reported that the special forces are conducting the planned work "to destroy Russian mercenaries and their local terrorist partners." Video with the destruction of Wagner positions in Sudan were also published in the fall of 2023. Then the Ukrainian authorities did not refute and did not confirm the information about involvement in the strikes of the drones, but the head of the GUR Kirill Budanov recalled that he promised to "destroy Russian military criminals anywhere in the world, wherever they were."
Also in September 2023, the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated that he met with the head of the Sudanese sovereign council Abdel Fattah al-Burghan. Then they discussed "the activities of illegal armed groups financed by Russia."
Since April 2023, the Sudan has been fighting between a quick response forces (RSF) and the regular army of the country. Russian mercenaries from the Wagner PMC have been participating in hostilities since 2019. Mercenaries of the Wagner PMC are fighting on the side of the RSF. Since 2023, they supplied the RSF weapons and ammunition, whose fighters staged a military coup and overthrew President Omar al-Bashira. About 90% of the weapons of rapid response forces received from the PMC Wagner - despite the death of the founder of Wagner Evgeny Prigozhin, this supply channel is still open.
Russian mercenaries appeared in Sudan no later than 2017. Then the President of Sudan Omar al-Bashir signed an agreement with the Russian authorities on the creation of the Russian naval base and the joint production of gold. Russian and foreign sources also wrote that all this time Wagner was engaged in the training of Sudanese military. The cooperation of the mercenaries and the forces of quick response is associated with the fact that the founder of PMCs was interested in the gold mines, which was captured by the RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti).
The military coup in Sudan occurred in October 2021. Since then, the country has been ruled by a transitional sovereign advice, which included the commander of the RSF Hemedti and the actual head of state Abdel Fattah al-Burkhan. In the spring of 2023, a conflict occurred between these commanders. Hamedti and Fattah al-Burkhan quarreled in which direction Sudan should move, whether the forces of quick response to the regular army should include and who would lead it after that. Since April 2023, an armed conflict has been undergoing between the official troops of the country and RSF.
