A court in the self-proclaimed DPR sentenced 33 Ukrainian soldiers from the 36th Marine Brigade of the Ukrainian Navy and the 17th Tank Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to prison terms ranging from 27 to 29 years in a maximum security colony.
According to the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the defendants in the case were found guilty under articles of cruelty to the civilian population, murder, attempted murder and intentional damage to someone else's property.
According to the prosecution , in the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, from February 24 to March 10, 2022, the Ukrainian military fired at residential buildings in the settlements of Sartana, Sakhanka, Talakovka, Stary Krym, Zaichenko and Dzerzhinskoye in the Donetsk region .
“As a result, a 17-year-old civilian was killed, a woman suffered a cerebral concussion, and 42 households and two civilian vehicles were damaged and destroyed,” the Investigative Committee reported.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation revealed the names of some of the convicts: Roman Shostak, Vladimir Torshin, Denis Nazarov, Artem Shvydkoy, Alexander Oleynik (all from the 36th brigade), Alexander Plotnikov, Yuri Akimov, Sergei Paliychuk, Sergei Dovgalyuk, Mikhail Izotov, Evgeniy Poptsov (all - 17th brigade).
