The Prosecutor General's Office has declared the British human rights organization Article 19 “undesirable . ” Today the Ministry of Justice entered it into the appropriate register.
In addition, organizations that were already known to be banned were added to the list - the magazine DOXA ( Mnenie media zs ) and the association of election researchers Russian Election Monitor .
Founded in 1987, Article 19 investigates violations around the world of the right to freedom of expression guaranteed by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. That's where it gets its name from.
Human rights activists published studies on the persecution of journalists and the blocking of Telegram in Russia, and also regularly reported on violations by Russian officials to the UN Human Rights Council.
