The 2nd Western District Military Court has received a criminal case against 45-year-old Ukrainian citizen Sergei Karmazin, who is being prosecuted under eight articles of the criminal code, the Solidarity Zone project reports .
Karmazinwas detained in February 2023: according to the security forces, the man, on instructions from the SBU, set fire to two alarm, centralization and automatic blocking cabinets on the Moscow railway. The FSB believes that he came to Russia from Latvia as a refugee. On February 17, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sent Karmazin to the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center as a suspect under the article of sabotage (clause “a”, part 2 of article 281 of the Criminal Code).
Lawyer Dmitry Sotnikov, who collaborates with the Solidarity Zone,was not allowed to see the man; the courts recognized this decision as legal. The project indicates that Karmazin was deprived of any protection. By the time the case came to court, seven new articles had appeared in the indictment:
— espionage (Article 276 of the Criminal Code);
— training in sabotage activities (Article 281.2 of the Criminal Code);
— preparation for the production of explosives (part 1 of article 30, part 3 of article 223.1 of the Criminal Code);
— assistance in sabotage activities (part 2 of article 281.3 of the Criminal Code);
— participation in a terrorist community (Part 2 of Article 205.4 of the Criminal Code);
— preparation for a terrorist attack (part 1 of article 30, paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code);

- Since the beginning of the full-scale war with Ukraine, military registration and enlistment offices and administrative buildings, as well as equipment on railway tracks, have been set on fire in various Russian cities. After the announcement of the “partial” mobilization, such arson became more frequent—several dozen cases of arson of military registration and enlistment offices are known . Some of the criminal cases in connection with the arson of military registration and enlistment offices, as well as police departments, the FSB and administrative buildings are listed in our guide to the “anti-war case”. OVD-Info suggests that at least some of these actions were a response to military aggression from Russia.
