Employees of correctional colony No. 3 in Yamal sent opposition leader Alexei Navalny to a punishment cell for another 15 days. This was reported by the politician’s ally Kira Yarmysh.
It is unknown what caused the penalty this time. Since August 2022, this is the 27th time that Navalny has been sent to a punishment cell. Taking into account this time, he will spend 308 days in punishment cells.

At the end of January, the politician was given a new punishment - 10 days in a punishment cell due to the fact that he “incorrectly introduced himself.” After this, Navalny ended up in a punishment cell in early February.
The oppositionist was transferred to the colony in Kharp at the end of 2023; before that he was in a correctional facility in the Vladimir region. On December 6, Navalny was no longer allowed to attend court hearings from the colony, and the defense and relatives were not told about his whereabouts for about 20 days. On December 25 , it became known that he was in IK-3 in Yamal.
During the days outside the punishment cell, the oppositionist is also subject to tougher conditions: in September 2023, he was placed in a single cell-type room (EPKT) for a year. This is a prison inside a colony for persistent offenders, essentially a lighter version of the punishment cell for a longer period.
