European officials closely monitor the US presidential race and think about the backup plan in case Donald Trump, having returned to the White House, will refuse to help Ukraine. It is reported by The Washington Post .

"When the former and perhaps the future leader of the free world says that he will sit back and observe how Russia will attack NATO allies, we must rethink how US obligations in Europe and Ukraine may look like," one of the European officials said.
