The US Presidential Administration Joe Biden is working on the provision of ATACMS long -range ballistic missiles to Ukraine. This was told by NBC News two sources among American officials.
According to them, last fall, the United States transferred to Kyiv tactical missile systems of the old -sample of medium -range (160 km).
Now the White House is inclined to send Ukraine modern missiles of a larger -range (300 km). They should allow the Ukrainian army to strike "further than the Russian occupied by Russia," NBC interlocutors noted.
However, the issue is still reduced to financing assistance to Ukraine. Voting on a new package for $ 61.4 billion should take place in Congress no earlier than mid -March.
At the same time, the Pentagon told NBC that the United States has a limited amount of long -range ATACMS. Therefore, they are unlikely to be sent to Ukraine without allocating funds to replenish American stocks.
If the Congress approves funding for Kyiv, then the United States will include new ATACMS missiles in one of the first military assistance packages. In addition, the Pentagon has ammunition and artillery that can immediately go to Ukraine, NBC sources emphasized.
At the same time, they did not exclude that the United States can turn to the allies and ask them to provide Ukraine with the long -range ATACMS missiles, and then replenish their own reserves.
The Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleb after a meeting with Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that they dedicated most of the negotiations atacms.
"There is only one way to destroy the Russian potential in Ukraine. We are talking about striking inland occupied territories, bypassing Russian electronic warfare and interceptors," Kuleba noted.
Recall that the US authorities refused to discuss the proposal of Russian President Vladimir Putin to freeze the conflict and the ceasefire in Ukraine, which the Russian president transferred to Washington through intermediaries. Reuters told about this by three Russian sources familiar with the discussions of the proposal.
