
In the correctional colony No. 15, a 64-year-old political prisoner, journalist and public figure Igor Glacin died in Mogilev. He was sentenced to three years in prison in the case of slander at the authoritarian leader of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko for publication in a party journal. This was reported in the telegram channel of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party, a member of which was a glacier.
It is known that in the colony the health of the glacier deteriorated significantly, he underwent surgery on the gastrointestinal tract. The activist had a disability of the 2nd group due to heart problems. The causes of death are not reported.
The glacier was detained on April 18, 2022. At first, the activist was arrested for 15 days according to an administrative article, but at the end of this period they did not release from the pre -trial detention center, but opened a criminal case and sentenced the same year in September.
The human rights center Vasna notes that the glacier, became the fifth Belarusian political prisoner who died in places of imprisonment for incomplete two years.
In May 2022, 50-year-old Vitold Ashukuk died in the colony, who was convicted for five years for participating in 2020 protests. The official cause of Ashurka’s death is the head injuries obtained by falling. In May 2023, a 61-year-old political prisoner, blogger and public activist from Pinsk Nikolai Klimovich died in the Vitba colony. He was sentenced by the year of the colony for the caricature of Alexander Lukashenko.
In July of the same year, 57-year-old Ales Pushkin died in the Grodno hospital. He was serving a five -year term in the case of inciting enmity and abuse of statevals in the prison of Grodno. The causes of the death of political prisoners are still unknown.
In January 2024, the political prisoner Vadim Khosko died in the Vitba colony, who was sentenced to three years in a general regime in the Donatte case. The official cause of death is pneumonia.
