The Ministry of Justice of Russia announced Radio Liberty/Radio Free Europe with an “unwanted” organization. The Prosecutor General’s Office made a similar decision on February 2, 2024.
Radio Liberty was launched in 1949, the Russian Corporation Service appeared in 1953. Earlier, the publication was recognized as an “ino -agent”, and its site was blocked in Russia. On March 6, 2022, journalists closed the corporation bureau located in Moscow. Many employees left Russia.

"Millions of Russians have relied on us for decades, including a record audience over the past few days after the death of Alexei Navalny. And this attempt to strangle us will only contribute to the more diligent work of RFE/RL in order to provide Russians with free and independent journalism," Capus emphasized .
Now in the Russian register of "undesirable" 142 organizations. The register includes organizations whose activities, according to the Russian authorities, poses a threat to the basics of the constitutional system, security or defense capabilities of the country. Application on the list means that organizations are prohibited from working in the country, and Russian citizens are forbidden to cooperate with it under the threat of criminal prosecution.
