A resident of Rybinsk was sentenced to three and a half years in prison because of graffiti in support of Navalny and FBK

On February 22, the Rybinsk City Court sentenced 42-year-old worker Sergei Streknev to three and a half years in a general regime colony on charges of participation in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) and vandalism (Part 2 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code). Mediazona was informed about this by the press service of the Yaroslavl Regional Court.

He was banned from attending public events for two years and sentenced to 10 months of restricted freedom.

According to investigators , on June 4, 2023, Streknev, as a member of FBK and Navalny’s headquarters, made several graffiti in Rybinsk “in support of these structures.” He also left inscriptions “discrediting the authorities” and “desecrated” a model of the ISU-152 self-propelled artillery mount.

During the investigation, Streknev was transferred to a Moscow pre-trial detention center; he was against the presence of the press at the meeting to extend the preventive measure. The investigation likely considers the worker to be a participant in Navalny’s underground headquarters, an anonymous and decentralized system launched in October 2022. Mediazona has found at least five people who are accused of collaborating with this structure. So far, only Strekneva has been sentenced.
