Russian music journalists opposed the war

The editors of Colta.ru received an appeal of Russian music journalists to President Vladimir Putin, in which they called him to immediately withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine.

We, Russian journalists, against the war with Ukraine. We demand an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory.

On February 24, 2022, the troops of the Russian Federation invaded Ukraine. This is confirmed by multiple evidence from different angles. Most importantly, this is confirmed by living people, our friends, relatives and colleagues throughout Ukraine with whom we communicate, and who are now under fire.

State television in Russia talks about the “military operation to liberate the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics”, but bloody battles are going on throughout Ukraine. And when residential buildings explode, people die, and children with the elderly tremble in the basements - this is not a “peacekeeping special operation”, but a real war. War against our closest neighbors. Death, grief and destruction.

We are deprived of the present and future. Not only our work - because it is impossible to write and think about music now - but the future in a broad sense. The future of Russia as a political subject, peaceful cooperation not only with Ukraine, but also with the rest of the world.

These events will have terrible consequences not only for Ukraine, but also for Russia, which will be in cultural, economic and political isolation for many years. The degradation of economic industries, the impoverishment of the population and the tightening of the political regime - everything that we are experiencing and now - will manifest with renewed vigor. But most importantly, ordinary Ukrainians will never forgive this war and forget us.

We are against this criminal and fratricidal war. It's not too late, we urge the leadership of the country and all conscious citizens of Russia to stop this nightmare.
