Human rights activist Oleg Orlov was sentenced to 2.5 years in colony

The co -chair of Oleg Orlov, who was liquidated by the Russian authorities, was sentenced to two years and six months in the age of a general regime in the case of 0 re -“discrediting” of the army. This was reported by the Center "Memorial".

The prosecution requested 2 years and 11 months in prison for Orlov.

The criminal case against Orlov was opened in March 2023 - because of his article "they wanted fascism. They received it." The human rights activist was elected a preventive measure in the form of a non -departure subscription. In October 2023, the court sentenced him to a fine of 150 thousand rubles. The prosecutor’s office, which then demanded three years in prison appealed the decision. The prosecutor's office insists that there is an aggravating circumstance in the case - "the motive of ideological enmity and hatred." As a result, the Moscow City Court canceled the verdict and returned the case to a second investigation. Upon its completion, it again entered the court. The repeated process began on February 16.

Oleg Orlov did not plead guilty, and also refused to defend himself in the second process, saying that "he did not consider this court justice." He also forbade his protection to call witnesses so as not to increase risks for them.
