Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of politician Alexei Navalny, who died in a colony, spoke in the European Parliament. Her performance was broadcast on the Navalny LIVE YouTube channel.
In her speech, she called for Vladimir Putin to be brought to justice. “Putin must answer for what he did to my country. Putin must answer for what he did to a peaceful neighboring country. Putin must answer for what he did to Alexei,” she said.
At the same time, Navalnaya emphasized that to fight Putin and his regime it is necessary to use innovative methods, as her husband did. According to her, we need to fight against those who help Putin. To do this, it is necessary to conduct investigations, identifying such accomplices, and prevent them from circumventing the imposed sanctions.
“Putin is a bloody monster, the leader of an organized criminal group,” Navalnaya emphasized. “My husband will never see the beautiful Russia of the future, but we must see it. And I will do everything in my power to make his dreams come true. Evil will fall and a wonderful future will come.”
The audience reacted to Navalnaya's speech with applause.
Shortly after Navalny’s death in penal colony IK-3 on February 16, Yulia Navalnaya accused Putin of his murder and promised to continue her husband’s work. She later called on the EU authorities not to recognize the results of the presidential elections in Russia, scheduled for mid-March.
On February 29, the European Parliament plans to adopt a resolution in connection with the murder of Navalny. It is expected to address the need to take action “in support of political prisoners and oppressed civil society” in Russia.
