The House of Representatives passed a bill to extend the US government by one week.

The US House of Representatives has approved a bill to temporarily fund the federal government. 320 congressmen (207 Democrats and 113 Republicans) voted for the bill, 99 were against. The vote in the Senate is expected to take place later on February 29.

The adopted bill allows us to avoid a shutdown—a temporary suspension of government work. The bill extends federal government funding that expires at midnight on Friday by one week, until March 8, and also sets the deadline for funding for other government agencies to March 22.

This temporary measure is intended to give congressmen more time to complete work on a full budget and pass 12 budget bills.
