Armenia sent an official letter to Russia with a request to stop the work of Russian border guards: C at the Zvartnots Airport in Yerevan, said Armenia Secretary of the Council of Security of Armenia Grigoryan. Only the Armenian border guards will remain at the airport: TSY.

Earlier, the speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alain Simonyan said that “it would be correct” if the Russian FSB border service was withdrawn from the Zvartnots Airport. The reason for the cessation of the work of Russian border guards: Ts Simonyan called the non-interference of Russian peacekeepers during the attack of Azerbaijan on the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic in 2023.

In addition, Armenia "froze" participation in the CSTO. According to the Prime Minister of the country Nikola Pashinyan, Armenia suspended its participation due to non-fulfillment of the collective security agreement from Russia, especially in 2021–2022.

Azerbaijani aggression in Nagorno Karabakh

  • The Russian peacekeeping contingent (RMK) did not take part in the hostilities - he only mediated in negotiations, transported humanitarian goods and accompanied the refugee. At least six Russian troops were killed by Azerbaijani troops.

  • On September 24, for the first time since the beginning of the blockade of the region on December 12, 2022, the Lachinsky corridor was opened and the first group of refugees was able to leave for Armenia. In early October, almost all the Armenians of the Nagorno -Karabakh became the refugees - more than 100 thousand people .

  • On September 28, the head of the NKR Samvel Shahramanyan signed a decree on the dissolution of the republic from January 1, 2024.
