Azat Miftakhov support group Solidarité Frééazat wrote a letter to the ambassadors of Russia and BRICS countries The association includes Russia, Brazil, India, China, South Africa, UAE, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia in France. In a letter from Solidarité Frééze President, Marik Garrik asked the Russian ambassador Alexei Meshkov to turn to the Russian authorities to “ensure the final liberation of the azat”:

“I will be grateful if you pass the request contained in all these letters from all over the world to the Russian authorities: to stop all the trials against Azat Miftakhov, a brilliant young mathematician so that he can freely continue his mathematical research.”

Earlier, the appeal to the release of Miftakhov was signed by the politician: Essenes from France, Germany and Brazil, and the representative: the nits of the French left -wing parties and human rights organizations came to the Russian embassy in Paris to ask the ambassador.

According to Garrik, the political nature of the case was emphasized by the Brazilian newspaper Lé Mondé Diplomatique and the French newspaper Mé Diapart. Also, the president of the support group wrote about the solidarity of the world mathematical community with Miftakhov.

More than a thousand letters call to stop the pursuit of mathematics were written from the countries of Africa, Oceania, America, Asia and Europe. The letters were sent to the pre -trial detention center of Yekaterinburg, which now contain Miftakhs.

The letter of Solidarité Frééazat was also sent to the heads of the FSB, the FSIN, the Investigative Committee, the State Duma, the Human Rights Council, the Ombudsman on Human Rights, the Prosecutor General, and the Ministers of Internal and Foreign Affairs.

• Anarchist and mathematician Azat Miftakhov was detained in February 2019. At that time, he was a graduate student of the Mechanical and Mathematics Faculty of Moscow State University. According to investigators, Azat was among those who broke the window of the United Russia office in Khovrino. The prosecution was built on the testimony of a secret witness who recognized Azat a year later by “expressive eyebrows”.

• On January 18, 2021, the court sentenced him to six years in a general regime colony, and later the sentence was softened for three months. Given the time spent in jail, it was supposed to release it on September 5, 2023.
